Making Your Room Cleaner & More Comfortable

mmanhoff • Apr 30, 2013

Your bedroom is a place of relaxation, escape, and of course, sleep! It should be as clean and comfortable as possible so you can completely enjoy it, but many homeowners don't carry their thorough house cleaning into their bedrooms because they aren't usually open to company.

It's okay to take some of your cleaning time and put it to use in your bedroom. You deserve a wonderful spot to rest!

Clean Your Bed

Most people wash their sheets, blankets, and pillow cases, but when was the last time you cleaned the bed itself? You can do so easily:

  • Sprinkle baking soda over the bed (optionally, you can add essential oil to the baking soda).
  • Let it sit for at least an hour, preferably more.
  • Vacuum clean with upholstery attachment.

The baking soda absorbs moisture and odors and many of the bacteria that come with them. Your bed will feel much more fresh!

Clean Out Your Clothes

It can be hard to part with clothes. Sometimes they're our favorites, sometimes they cost a lot of money, and sometimes they have memories attached. Cleaning out your closet will give you a lot more room and organization, though!

  • Remove anything that doesn't belong in the closet!
  • Sort through clothes—toss out things that don't fit, are uncomfortable, or that you don't love.
  • Return the clothes in a system, like by colors, styles, or purposes.

There's no promise you'll find something to wear, but it won't be because you can't see your clothes!

Make Your Drawers Smell Great. The scented soaps that come in paper wrappers can actually work as drawer fresheners. Just drop one into the drawer and leave it! For a few months, it will permeate your clothes and the drawer, and your clothes will always smell fantastic.

What will you change in your room to make it more comfortable?
